Program Highlights

FSW Turtle Relocation Research

This summer Professor Jordan Donini and some of his FSW student researchers made a positive impact on the SWFL ecosystem by releasing illegally captured turtles back into their natural environment after they were confiscated by FWC during a reptile poaching bust. This is all new research being done by FSW students that will hopefully lead to new data which will help FWC and other wildlife organizations relocate more illegally captured reptiles in the future.

CRISPR Experiment At FSW

What is CRISPR? It's cutting-edge technology and it's being used right here at FSW. Students in Dr. Anzalone's microbiology class were the first FSW students to use CRISPR to successfully edit the genes of bacteria. This successful experiment is just another example of how FSW is preparing students for the high-tech world of tomorrow.
